-
What should I pack ?
We recommend dressing in layers, and bringing comfortable hiking shoes or sneakers. Attire is relaxed and comfortable. We recommend bringing sunscreen, a camera, sunglasses, and a backpack. We will build debris shelters that we find quite comfortable, however some students choose to bring a tent or and sleeping gear.
-
Will I have Wifi and Cellular service ?
You will find various spots on the property where there is cell service.
-
What are your policies around COVID-19 ?
We are committed to guest service and safety. We have therefore limited the number of people who can take part in our workshops and stay on the premises to account for social distancing. Since a number of our workshops are focused on what to do in the case of a pandemic, we feel uniquely equipped to handle this situation.
-
Will food be provided ?
We are not officially providing meals at this time. We recommend that students bring their own, and can make recommendations as to what brands of dehydrated freeze-dried meals we use, ourselves.
-
What kind of survival tools should I bring ?
You will be provided with a survival knife. However if you would like to bring your own, we suggest a fixed blade knife. There are many brands (and sizes and colors) to choose from: Mora, Esse, Cold Steel, Leatherman, Victronox are some of the brands we trust the most. In addition to a knife, we recommend a non-lined (very important for heating) steel water bottle with a wide mouth, which is convenient for boiling water. We will be building weather-proof shelters to stay in. Some students prefer to sleep on a modern sleeping pad while others enjoy sleeping on nature’s mattress. Definitely bring clothes for layering, hats, sunscreen, insect spray, work gloves, closed toe shoes and a waterproof jacket and pants. We will be enjoying the outside and almost all of the weather we can!
