Primal u artist talks with richard wheeler

The Primal U Artist Lecture Series showcases the practices of artists and creatives working in and with the natural world. Join us for the first installment of our series with media artist Richard Wheeler. Register at Eventbrite.

Richard Wheeler is an artist, designer, researcher and consultant. He investigates locations, tools, methods, and cultures of observing, representing, and interacting with the world around us. He served in the United States Army for nine years as an imagery and signals geospatial intelligence analyst. He is currently an adjunct faculty member in Art Center College of Design's Media Design Practices: Field program and a lecturer in UCLA's Department of Design Media Arts.

Richard is certified in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), is a certified EMT, Wilderness First Responder, and an active member of volunteer group Team Rubicon. In this discussion, we'll discuss how his art practice intersects with his interests in skill-building, and how he maintains his vast knowledge base.

Brought to you with support from Primal U, Stickney Creek, Pepperdine University and Outer Echoes Artist Residency.
